About Us

The Alamo City Interpreters (ACI) agency was founded in April 2014 by two certified sign language interpreters, Emily Arriaga & Amanda Lerma. The agency's mission is to provide the best interpreter services in San Antonio and surrounding areas.

Our Story

Emily Arriaga and Amanda Lerma established ACI with a two-part vision:

First, to provide the best interpreter services in San Antonio and surrounding areas by providing interpreters trained to work in a variety of settings from hospitals to businesses, legal courtrooms, conferences and more.

The second is to empower clients to select their preferred interpreters. We strive to provide quality service with integrity, respect and understanding.

Who we are

Emily Arriaga

Emily, a seasoned interpreter with 20 years of experience, discovered her passion for Deaf culture in high school.

After completing ASL classes and interpreter training, she worked in various settings before obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Criminology. She now seeks additional certifications to further excel in her profession.

Amanda Lerma

Amanda's journey with American Sign Language (ASL) began informally in grade school through interactions with Deaf friends.

After eight years of volunteer interpreting in church, she obtained her BEI certification in 2005. Amanda is now pursuing her BEI Master certification while mentoring others to achieve higher certifications.
